Assessment & Grading
It is important to remember the grading scale
may be different from the system that you use at home.
Below is an explanation of the grading system used at EBS London
and at most higher education institutions in the UK.
Percentage Classification
- 70%+ : First Class
Exceptional standard of work - this is rarely given
- 60% – 69% : Upper Second Class
Very good
– above average standard, minor errors
- 50% – 59% : Lower Second Class
Good –
overall sound work, but with some errors
- 40% – 49% : Third Class
Satisfactory –
work has met the minimum passing requirements
- Below 40 : Fail
Work is of an
unsatisfactory standard
Attendance
Attendance is expected at all classes at EBS London, and there
is an 80% minimum attendance requirement. Failure to meet the
minimum 80% attendance requirement may reult in withdrawal from the
module and possible expulsion from the School.
Late Coursework
All coursework must be submitted to
the Business and Management Faculty
Registry on the date/time indicated within the
instructions for the particular module.
After that time unless a valid
doctor’s certificate or relevant
documentation (in case other than illness) has been
submitted, the following will apply:
If the assignment achieves a pass mark or
above, it will be capped at 40%.
In the absence of submitting a request for
extenuating circumstances, no coursework/assessment will be
accepted for marking beyond two weeks after the submission
date.
All coursework must be submitted with a signed
Coursework Cover Sheet, available from the Faculty
Registry Office. Students should retain a copy of all coursework
submitted.
Collection of Marks
- Marked coursework will be handed back to students in the
lectures or seminar groups.
- Final transcripts will be sent to your home institution as soon
as possible after the published release date. A copy will also be
posted to your permanent home address.
