BA (Hons) International Business with Italian

Italian is a Romance language, spoken by over 70 million people in Italy, parts of Switzerland and other neighbouring countries.  Italy’s privatisation programme has started much later than its European Union counterparts, and very profitable markets for banks and financial institutions are now open and developing.

Our BA (Hons) International Business with Italian course provides you with the linguistic and business skills necessary to ensure the success of your future business ventures in Italy and the rest of the world.

Why Combine Italian and International Business?

Italy’s political and economic power resides in Rome, with Milan, Genoa and Turin forming its famous "industrial triangle" in the north of the country.

Milan is synonymous with fashion and the headquarters of Armani, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, Prada and Versace are all based in the city.  Turin is home to automotive giants like Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo.  Although there has been a long standing north-south divide in Italy (with the north the most prosperous), the south experienced remarkable economic growth between the 1940s and 1970s and the southern port city of Naples has the fourth strongest economy (after Rome, Milan and Turin).

As an International Business graduate with advanced Italian language skills, you will be well placed to take advantage of the employment opportunities that Italy's many international brands present, both in Italy and around the world.

International Business and Italian Language Course Details

Your BA (Hons) International Business with Italian course will incorporate study of the main areas of international business and intensive Italian language tuition.  We teach Italian at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and you will be placed in a class appropriate to your ability.  Classes are capped at 12 students and are taught by native Italian speakers.  In order to ensure that you are fluent in Italian when you graduate, you will spend two semesters studying at one of our Italian partner universities in Venice, Milan or Bologna (including Universita di Bologna, one of Italy’s highest ranking universities).

You will also complete 36 weeks of work experience and internships before graduating.  Students typically schedule these placements during the holiday periods and it is up to you whether you choose to gain experience in the UK, your home country or in Italy.  Our Careers and Business Relations department are well placed to help you research and contact companies related to your career interests.

In previous years, EBSL students have gained work experience at Banca Esperia, Estee Lauder, Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper and Pasquale Bruni in Milan and UBS Italia and Homberger in Genoa.  These placements will enable you to further develop your language skills, apply the theory you learn in class to real working situations and develop your own network of contacts.

You will find that these features of our BA (Hons) International Business with Italian course will really help you when you come to securing a good graduate job.
