There are two different examinations under offer; Certificate in Business French (Level B1 B2) and Diploma in Business French (Level C1 C2).
The examinations are widely recognised in the UK, France and across Europe. They are benchmarked to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for foreign languages and are equivalent to National Vocational Qualifications as defined by the UK Languages Lead Body.
The equivalence of each of these Business French Qualifications to the CEFR is shown in the table below which also offers an overall description of expected proficiency levels.
Proficient User
C1-C2
Can understand easily demanding and extended texts (heard or read). Can summarise information from various spoken and written sources, reconstruct arguments in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating shades of implicit meaning.
Can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
Independent User
B1-B2
Can understand the main ideas of texts on various topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with fluency and spontaneity making interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce clear texts on a range of subjects, explain a viewpoint on a topical issue and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
